It serves to carbonate beverages, to package and preserve food products, and is used in various technological processes, cooling systems and other industrial applications. Moisture, solid particles, oil and other contaminants can lead to process contamination, corrosion and operating problems in valves, regulators, measuring devices and other equipment. Appropriate CO₂ treatment is therefore an important part of any system for its distribution and use.
