Description
Conventional screw compressor systems have regulated air cooling for the lubricant, which means the excess heat is expelled into the surroundings by a fan. The heat is thereby lost entirely. The AIRWATT external heat recovery unit is designed to make efficient use of the waste heat generated during air compression in rotary screw compressors. That can sometimes amount to more than 70% of the energy a rotary screw compressor consumes. The heat can then be used to heat domestic water or for space heating, at almost no additional cost. This not only saves money, it is also environmentally sound. The unit has two separate counter-flow pipework systems. The transfer of energy from the compressor to the domestic water takes place in a plate heat exchanger, where the compressor oil and the domestic water meet. The unit is controlled by a thermostatic valve, which prevents the compressor from running cold and being damaged.
