An intelligent drain measures the condensate level and opens the valve only when the vessel is full, so no compressed air is discharged with the condensate.
With timer-controlled drains, air loss runs into thousands of cubic metres a year — replacing them with an intelligent model is one of the measures with the shortest payback.
The models have fault indication, so a blockage or failure is noticed before water gets into the network.
