Cryogenic pump systems
Covers the pressure range from 10⁻³ to ≤ 10⁻¹¹ mbar. The principle is that gaseous substances bind to cold surfaces inside the pump by cryocondensation, cryosorption or cryotrapping. Cryo pumps have no mechanically moving parts lubricated with oil or grease on the vacuum side.
To produce a high or ultra-high vacuum, the cold surfaces / cryo panels must be cooled to a sufficiently low temperature. They are cooled by well-proven, highly reliable single-stage or two-stage refrigerators from Leybold’s COOLPOWER i line (Gifford/McMahon principle).
